4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Mentorship and Networking: How to Build Relationships that Matter
We are all navigating our work and life paths in a world that is more interconnected and competitive than ever. What type of networking skills will serve you best on your journey? Should you seek mentors to guide you on your way, how can you find them and what questions should you ask? This session will explore these questions, and help you build a proactive mindset about networking and mentoring. You will practice skills in breakout groups. You will also be introduced to a few life planning and perspective tools including path-building, Ikigai, character strengths, wheel of life, and future pacing.

The Office of Alumni Affairs briefing includes an overview of the Exchange Alumni community, which program participants join at the conclusion on their program. The presentation details the funding and networking opportunities open to alumni in connection with U.S. Embassies and the U.S. State Department.

Reverse culture shock, or re-entry, is a common reaction to returning home from studying abroad. It is an emotional and psychological stage of re-adjustment, similar to the initial adjustment to living abroad. During this session, participants will learn useful strategies for tackling reverse culture shock when they return home.
